Christmas pictures

I've been bugging Nate for the past two months about how we needed to take a picture to send out for Christmas. Well, it never really happened. But, last night was our ward party so we thought that might be a great place to take a photo. When we got there we didn't see a tree or anything we could take a picture by. So that's why we settled for this picture in front of our own tree. We hope you all like them. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!

Nutcracker

Nate called me two weeks ago at work and asked if  he could take me on a date. He told me we'd have to get dressed up and I instantly got excited. I asked what we were going to do and he told me it was a surprise. Well, Nate must have been kind of excited because he ended up telling me before we went. I guess he scored free tickets to Ballet West's "The Nutcracker". I've never seen it outside the fabulous Barbie Nutcracker so I was pretty pumped.

It was nice to have a night alone with Nate. Some of you may know we have a very close friend who actually likes hanging out with us even though we're married. He's kind of become our child. We love him so it's fun, but sometimes we feel we have to tell him in advance that we're going out. It's all pretty funny to us.

We had a rushed dinner at the Olive Garden which is right across from the Capital theater. Our waiter was great about getting our meal out quickly so that we could make the show.  He also gave us an extra 2 hour parking validation so that was cool too.

The show was good. Their interpretation was a little different from what I had expected and even Nate said that it ended a little different from how he had remembered it too. But, the theater was really beautiful. There were chandeliers  all throughout the building and gold paint accents on the molding and sconces. I could have just walked through looking at all the details of the building. It had a very 1920s feel and I loved it. I think we'll definitely visit the Capital theater again.

Christmas Season

I was so excited to put up the tree on Friday. I couldn't wait for Nate to pull it out of storage so I dragged it out all by myself. We were able to set the tree up fairly quick. Once it was up we went and saw Transporter 3. It was action-packed...a real "guy" movie, but it was fun. After that we decided that this year we'd buy ornaments. Last year all we could afford, being newly married, was the tree. This year we decided to spring for ornaments. Maybe next year I'll make us some stockings. Nate has a stocking at his home and we both have one at my parent's house. I kind of want to make the stockings so that when we have kids, they'll all be uniform but kind of unique for each child. The stockings at my parent's all have our name and then the date and year we were born. I think they're really special because they were knitted by m grandmother. Plus they stretch and can fit boatloads of goodies! Nate and I are so pumped to go to California this year. We've gone the past few years and have created some really fun traditions. I'm counting down the days. Hope you like the pictures of the tree. We look forward to adding macaroni, and pretzel covered ornaments as our future little ones start attending school and what not. That's a long ways off, but fun to think about.
